Red kohlrabi cabbage

Duck with cabbage

Once I tried to cook classic red cabbage and it wasn’t so good without sugar. Then I found how to replace it with combination of beetroot and kohlrabi. I like this recipe and it has success also at our non-paleo visitors. :-)


  • 2 beetroots,
  • 2 kohlrabis,
  • 1 large onion,
  • 1 Tbsp lard,
  • 2 Tbsp balsamico,
  • 1 Tbsp salt,
  • 1 Tbsp caraway,
  • 300 ml water.


  1. peel beetroots and kohlrabis grate them,
  2. fry chopped onion on the lard,
  3. add grated beetroots and kohlrabis together with other ingredients and cook for about 45 minutes.
